Imitating art

This little gateau I found in Ralph's supermarket in Malibu is what I like to think of as life imitating art- or cake imitating cake! Look how pretty it is with its swirls of cream, dripping lemon icing, cherries and sprinkles. I particularly like the candy striped chocolate shards too... It's just a picture! No doubt it doesn't taste as good as it looks, it's just a supermarket cake, but it's definitely inspired me to make a really American Diner style ice cream sundae of a cake sometime soon where looks and flavour rival art!
