Pier Construction

The pier has been here since 1876. Cayucos was established in 1867 by Captain James Cass. He built a wharf and a warehouse and soon Cayucos was a busy, deep water seaport.

The Cayucos Pier has been in desperate need of serious repair for a long time. The aging Cayucos pier has been repaired on and off through the years, for example after storms damaged the structure in 1983 and 1993.

Park funds, such as public facilities funds, can’t be used to repair an existing facility, the more than $2.1 million cost to rebuild the pier will have to be paid for with grants, donations and other sources.

So this little community has been working diligently to raise the funds to "Save the Pier." And now the physical repair work has begun.
