Got my Hard Hat On

I had to take my car in to be looked at this morning and walked home through the city and come across a few of the Giant fibreglass Giraffe sculptures that were put around the city over the weekend. This one is called 'The builder' No 13 by Artiest Paulina Porebska. There are 97 in total, 47 by local artiest 48 by school children.. there could be a few more but can not find any articles about them. I saw my first one on Saturday at the Art Centre and other one in a park when were went to get some plants yesterday.

How it works

Businesses, community groups, charities, education establishments and individuals have sponsored the blank Giraffe sculptures – the canvases.

Artists, well-known and undiscovered, young and old, were invited to submit their designs. The best designs were selected by sponsors to feature on the Christchurch Stands Tall sculpture trail.

48 local schools were also able to sponsor and decorate their own Giraffe calf sculpture to feature on the trail, and each will be theirs to keep after the event.

49 Giraffes – 2.5 metres high, are on display around Christchurch and surrounds for 12 weeks forming a spectacular sculpture trail for all to enjoy.

At the end of the public art exhibition, in February, the Giraffes will be auctioned so we can all be part of raising money for local charities and turn the city’s Summer of fun into a helping hand for those who are in need.
Here is a link if you want to know more about the event.

This is a video from the TV One's news on the Giraffes.

The wind is still very strong again today but not as warm as yesterday. I got a call from the garage about my car this afternoon and the news was.. why the ABS warning system would come up at times was because there was a intermittent fault to do with a brake pedal switch and that needs replacing. Because I have a Citroen the part has to come down from Auckland. My car has to stay over night with them and they said it should be ready sometime after lunch.
