After the storm
After a leisurely start, we reached the hills in time to do some grocery shopping, then lunch at the golf club. I was amazed at the brilliant green of the countryside along the way. Most of Rio has been so unseasonably hot and dry, but it seems that enough rain has fallen elsewhere to put out the fires and kick-started the spring growth.
The looming clouds spoke of imminent rain, so I left HH to unload the car and headed out to walk Kayla as soon as we got home. I wanted to get up to where I've seen intense humming bird activity before, but turned back with the first heavy drops. They soon became considerably heavier, and Kayla wasn't enjoying the thunder, so perhaps stopping to pick nasturtiums wasn't too sensible. Anyway, we were both properly drenched by the time we got back to the car and Kayla decided a lift home was in order.
Back home and once the rain stopped, I wandered round in delight at the sight of our few flowers covered with rain drops, then couldn't stop taking photos of the cloud formations from the window, once I got back inside. Difficult to tell on the laptop screen how dark or light they really are, so posting this one in the hope that it's OK.
