A swollen stream...

Yes it is a stream - at its widest point, when it floods - the main road becomes a ford in the distance (where a raised footway to the right in the distance can be seen).

It is not uncommon for this to flood especially in the autumn/winter months.

The water level has in recent years reached over the top of this bank on more than a handful of occasions at least, although the worst case must have been perhaps three years ago when we experienced a lot of wet weather and you couldn't even get to the raised walkway in the distance - let alone cross it without wading into water - and that is more than a metre above the road surface..

This is on the edge of a park, but I think the homes nearby even though on raised footing were threatened then.

Oh and it was very wet when I took this - as I sheltered under a brolly.
