Focus
Pretty manky day today. We considered going to the Tower of London but apparently the crowds are still really bad so we stayed in and played..
Monopoly.. Board games, the clue is in the name 'Bored' ;) All good fun though, after a couple of hours we called it a day (Alf announced he was bored and went off to stare at some stranger on youtube) I think Alf was the clear winner though.
This butterfly was flitting about in a 'I'm about to die' sort of way last night so I removed it from the floor where Bert was about to subject it to some horror and placed it on a window sill.
This morning it was no longer fluttering so I stuck it on a bit of board so I could try some macro focus stacking. The principle is pretty simple. Stick a macro lens on, take a series of pictures whilst moving the focus (actually moving the camera is easier) then combine all of the pictures together to get a razor sharp image. This is the theory, in practice I took 3 pictures of the important bits (eye, hairy bit on it's back and a bit of wing near the body) and completely neglected to take any others, hence why the wings are somewhat soft! Anyway it is all part of the learning process and Poppy likes the image so that has to be a positive.
Dinner now, I am roasting a selection of lovely food to delight and surprise H whilst simultaneously making the children recoil with horror.
Pass the gin.
