Nicandra
I tried to blip this Nicandra in the garden, but although it was a lovely sunny day, the wind made it impossible. However the shadows on this wall proved more interesting anyway, i think.
I love this plant for the dotted leaves, and luminous blue and white flowers, but most of all for the seed pods which, as you can see, start off purpley, and then go skeletal for the winter. The pods are fill of shiney black seeds which will easily grow next spring. The common name is Shoofly as the plant is related to deadly nightshade, and is reputed to repel flies. I haven't noticed this effect myself, but use shredded eucalyptus to repel insects and slugs.
