Fireworks at the Elizabeth Harvey Fields
You were spared another rugby lineout shot today by a photo of the firework display put on by Bearsted Parish Council this evening. Despite using the "firework " setting I was disappointed with the outcomes of almost all of the shots; perhaps I should have posted a rugby shot after all.
It was a good display, lasting over 15 minutes. It was amusing to note the reactions of some of the very small children who bawled as soon as the first firework went off with a very loud bang. I don't mean babes in arms but 3 or 4 year olds, perched on Daddy's shoulders.
Bearsted Scouts were selling refereshments and flogging glow sticks but we successfully avoided both those pleasures. Apart from the fireworks though, there was nothing else to entertain the troops. Its a pity there wasn't a site of a bonfire or some music to entertain the crowd while they waited and to retain them for a while when the event had finished. I know there are health and safety issues around a bonfire and also the problem of where to put it so that it doesn't cause a potential hazard or ruin the ground. But a bonfire, music and of course jacket potatoes would have added immeasurably to the experience.
