Red-tailed Hawk At Pond
Today I went back to a spot that I had driven by last week...hoping that it was a pond, but finding it was a series of ponds with ducks and a hawk. It is located right in the middle of an area of Hillsboro with a huge recreational complex, some office buildings, a groups of restaurants/businesses, and LOTS OF TRAFFIC. On a Saturday it seemed even busier than I had remembered. We parked at a Lebanese Restaurant and wound our way around a building back to these three ponds that were connected by a primative dirt road/path. We saw some "shovelers", and other ducks, but the red-tailed hawk caught my eye. He was on a very very busy corner with traffic coming both ways....none of which bothered him. And we didn't bother him either...walking right up to the pole, and taking photos from every angle we could. Several birds buzzed him, but he maintained his ground. He waited us out...we finally left.
