Nonchalant

After a long and busy life, this common darter felt he deserved some relaxation time on this particularly comfy sunlit autumn toadstool.

This was taken on a walk round Holme Fen with Chris and Lizzy. Plenty of fungi, though not that many different species, and heaps of common darters still on the wing. the birch leaves are only just beginning to turn gold, when usually they're at their most splendid in early November. It was still very warm, though I gather that temperatures are going to return to something more normal next week - probably about time!
