Valtiberina

We didn't want to drive too far or do too much today because we start the first leg of our long journey home tomorrow.

So we headed north east of Arezzo to the Valtiberina (Upper Tiber Valley) and visited the medieval towns of Sansepolcro, the birthplace of Piero della Francesca, and Anghiari (pictured here), famous for a battle between Milan and Florence in 1440.

It was beautiful, peaceful, and free from coach-loads of tourists.
