Poppies

We visited the poppies at the Tower of London this afternoon. Someone had taped these tributes to their relatives who fell in the First World War.
In the background are some of the volunteers still planting poppies.
The last poppy will be placed in the ground at 11.00 on the 11th day of the 11th month.

There were thousands of people there to hear the roll call of fallen soldiers and the last post. We were packed like sardines, but there was no grumbling and everyone stood in a respectful silence. A very moving experience.
