Growing exactly where you'd expect to find them - a farmers field verge. An easy to identify mushroom (shape, colouring, distinctive scales) - and one that though mild tasting is edible. There is a variety that reacts with alcohol (the Common Ink Cap) to have some fairly unpleasant side effects though (up to several days after eating!) - so if you're tempted then you'd better be sure - fair warning methinks!
