Unusual Colors on the Peony

There is much I do not understand about color theory.
This photo is unaltered except for darkening it a
bit. The purples and pinks almost appeared magically.
It is my Peony bush turning its late autumn colors.

No one was more suprised than I at the colors that
came forth. The very early light contributed a little
but I am still very puzzled. Can any of you explain
this to me???

On this last morning of October, we have strong
winds and potential snow flakes.....Sigh!
