Scarborough

Today's the day ........................ for more geology

It was all a bit misty this morning in Scarborough - although it brightened up through the morning and eventually a watery sun appeared.

It didn't dampen the spirits of holiday-makers who were out on the impressive beach. It reminded me again of that geological field excursion mentioned yesterday. I'm sure it was somewhere on the beach at Scarborough that we were being shown something significant. We were all in walking boots - with rucksacks and geological hammers - all a bit embarrassing as we stepped over people, sunbathing and generally enjoying themselves on the sand!

And talking of geology - anyone who is remotely interested in the subject, could not fail to be impressed by The Rotunda Museum in Scarborough. This unique museum is over 180 years old, and was first built to display the ideas of William Smith, the father of English Geology.

We had lots of fun in there - playing with all the interactive technology - and reminding ourselves about the geology of the area at the same time .................
