Preparing for Hallowe'en...

Halloween Wish

Since this is the time for goblins and bats,
Hallowe'en spirits, ghosts and cats,
Pumpkin soup and witches brew,
This is the wish that I make for you.

May the only spirit you chance to meet,
Be the spirit of love and warm friends sweet.
May the party piece you decide to do,
Bring a smile to the face of a friend or two.

So, by tomorrow, pick three friends sweet,
And give them all a Hallowe'en treat.
You only have one day, so hurry!
Leave a treat on the doorstep, then flee in a flurry!

Hallowe'en is still a happy event in Scotland, and for the last week or so pumpkins have been flying off supermarket shelves, decorations in purple and orange abound and little children in fancy dress can be seen being taken home from school or other organised parties... a colourful festival to brighten cold dark nights...
