Gas pollution from the eruption

People in Akureyri were advised to stay indoors today, shut the windows and turn up their central heating. The level of SO2 was rising here and midmorning a warning was sent to all cellphones in the area. The level of pollution was over 4000µg/m³ for a while.
I felt it in my lungs, throat and in the eyes and also this strange smell and taste in my moth was awful.
Kári and I stopped to take a look at the blue "mist" when we were on our way home after getting a haircut and some groceries at a foul smelling supermarket.
