Filling the Moat

I finally got a chance to have a look at the poppy display around the Tower of London this afternoon. It is a very dramatic scene.

I took lots of pictures from various points around the almost-full moat, but eventually opted for an almost-abstract image. This image is all about the sheer number of people the display represents - almost 900,000 people represented by almost 900,000 poppies.

There were a huge number of people around the moat this afternoon, in places a carnival atmosphere. I did wonder how many people taking selfies with the poppies behind them gave much thought to what they represent.
