I did not go back to sleep and early this morning I dropped my car off - finally - to be valeted and went for a walk around the pond for the 20 minutes it took them to do the job. What a treat that walk proved to be! First of all I came upon two ducks courting, I had never noticed the intricacies of this. Eventually they did the deed at the end of which he swam in ever widening circles around her then off they swam together.

A little further on I found the geese at their morning ablutions. This is a communal activity and went on for some time, until the Alpha Gander honked, everyone stopped what they were doing, and he led them off across the pond.

What a blessing to have seen this. It set me up for the day.
