Wednesday Walk - what great weather!
It was my turn to lead the Haltwhistle long walk today. It was my first decent walk since the festival because I've been resting Arth.
The weather was perfect. It was cold and crisp with beautiful sunshine. We walked beside the Haltwhistle Burn uphill to Hadrian's Wall. Coffee was at a milecastle beside Cawfields Quarry. Then we went west all the way to Walltown Quarry, using the upper path. The views were stunning. It was so still and warm that we lunched high up on the Wall above Walltown.
On our return route we saw a herd of cows coming towards us on a narrow farm track and decided our best action was to stand to one side until they came. They were being moved into a byre and here you see them rounding the corner and seeing us for the first time. I like their footwork.
Now to treat Arth to a hot bath followed by an ice pack!
