From muck to brass

I am desperate for ideas – like thousands of other people, it’s not that light when I go to work, and it’s dark when I come home. And in the intervening nearly 10 hours, I’m driving or working or eating my lunch (or drinking it today – no, not Pinot Grigio, it was beetroot soup).

I’ve searched around, for Blip-inspiration, as I’m off with Technophobe and another friend in a short while, to see if we can terrorise the kayak club once more.

This is what I have plumped for today – little brass figures that we bought in Vietnam about 12 years ago. Instead of just chucking all of the inevitable scrap that they must have accumulated after the Vietnam war, the people are very enterprising and build items for the tourists to take back home with them. For example, if you look closely at the little baskets that the man is carrying, they are the bases of cartridge cases.

They remind me very much of JMZhang’s recent blip that you can see here. I think that it is a stunning picture, taken in China, and if you haven't seen it before, it's worth a peek.

I think these little figures are quite pretty, and are an infinite improvement on the weapons of destruction.
