365 #298 - Frankfurt #2
I was in Frankfurt because my closest friend was running the marathon there. The field was something like 12,000 and my first experience of it up close. I got lots of colourful and funny shots but keep coming back to this one.
I'd got onto this street and away from the impressive cheering crowds just around the corner (behind me, so out of shot). I soon found out that a lot of the runners were staggering down this street while out of sight and given that this was about 1.5 to 2 miles from the end I'm not surprised.
I went over to speak to the guy sitting down in the picture and offered some encouragement as I helped him up. I actually felt quite emotional at how grateful he was. I don't know if he finished but I was quite in awe of him and everyone else.
