As if!

This morning the (highly paid) Manager of the Highways Department of the Local Council arrived in the office early this morning and said: Look heavy rain is forecast for later today. This is the worst time of year for leaves on the roads and in the gutters. I think we should send out some vans and get drains cleared of leaves, so the roads don’t flood. If we can’t manage the minor roads, although they are the often worst hit and we should try to get round them, at least we could deal with the main roads into the city, as flooding there can cause real problems . . .
