Can't eat a potato

Was reminded by Copenhagen and Me that Halloween is fast approaching and offers a nice excuse for a gruesome blip. This is not it by the way. Time to get my thinking head on though.

Heard from Luke this morning. He has not been paid again. Second time this has happened to him in just a few months. He says the school is in trouble (too few students, poor cashflow etc.) and he can't see any way of turning it around. He tells me that there are limited opportunities for him in Guilin and of course with the baby on the way, upping sticks and moving to another city such as Beijing isn't an option either. It's at times like this that having children living half way round the world doesn't feel like such a great thing. You feel pretty powerless to help.
