at home with an Ivysaurus

Helper monkey

Finished Ivy's haloween costume. She is of course a monkey- since it's a warm fleecy costume and our house is quite cold, she'll probably where it quite alot (and she is heart wrenchingly cute in it). I'm super proud of it, it's fully lined and since the instructions I used (Ottobre magazine) were minimal, it was a bit of a challenge to work out which seam to pull through where and when. The only bit that isn't a good fit is the hood, that when I was sewing it up, fitted on my head so I reduced the size of. I think it would probably be better as a big floppy hood, but then again it looks most like a monkey costume at this size.

Having just got over the worst bug I've had in years, I was exhausted today so spent lots of the day lying on the sofa. Ivy kept patting me and trying to feed me imaginery food.

She woke up before 5 this morning and screamed and screamed. Probably teeth related- there's a couple just about to surface I think. Euan is fed up of her waking up so early, so we kept her up later tonight to see if it would help her sleep later. By 7.30am she kept lying down in the living room. My favourite of these moments was when Euan had his back to her and was saying 'it's great she's still running about and isn't grumpy' and Ivy lay down on the floor behind him. I think if we'd left her she'd have gone to sleep in her teepee.

Got her weighed today to see what the damage from a week of sickness/ not eating has been. She's dropped down in line with the lowest her weight ever was, which we expected. Getting her weighed in a fortnight to see if she's making progress. Till then when it comes to choosing snacks for her, bread and butter will be winning out over apple slices.

Tonight I started preparing the sensory play for the haloweeen party in the village hall playgroup on wednesday. 11 literes of rasberry jelly is setting in a big tub on the kitchen floor, my hands are blue and I have 2kg of spaghetti to cook. It's going to be great fun.
