Major achievment

I'm writing a day late again but never mind. Better late than never.

This is my kitchen door.

Not very interesting I acknowledge, but today has been a major achievment!

After 9 years in our house this door has finally seen a coat of paint. The beautiful panelled doors in our house downstairs were subject to that fashion makeover in the 70's where you covered the panels over with hardboard to make them flat then paint with thick gloss which would stink the house out. They looked nice in the day I'm sure but I prefer the panelled doors.

So after 9 years of looking and thinking I wonder what it be like If I took the hard board off, I now know.

it's a lovely panelled door but it was stuck up thick with that brown evostik which stuck anything in the 1970's, even hardboard to lovely panelled doors.

I spent the day rubbing with sandpaper to get off the layers of evostik followed by a dark varnish. I then gave it its first coat of paint - undercoat, first coat in 9 years.

A busy, productive day and major achievment.
