Swanfield

The light was fantastic today - I was in a basement most of the time, but every time I surfaced to the third floor I saw pale blue cloudless sky, dazzlingly bright stonework, and enough beautifully lit chimneys to satisfy even Cabbagetree Cottage.

No chance to get the camera out unfortunately, so I tried a few shots on the way home. After this one I took several more along Water of Leith; well, I thought I did, but unfortunately the little camera had a bit of a moment - trouble in its wig, as Lord Buckley might well have said - so I only managed to extract a shot of the nice wall painting at Swanfield.

The reflections of the buildings in the window are part of the painting, although very convincing. The bird flying across the top is rather generously proportioned in the wing to be a swan, but going by the name of the neighbourhood that's probably the intention.

Yes, I have tried switching it off and switching it on again - and it seems fine now. We'll see what happens tomorrow, on the Gateshead run.
