Megan's Garden

I was asked to design this small garden a few months ago. It was completely covered in decking, with no planting whatsoever. The client's x-husband had installed it several years ago, to provide a no maintenance garden. She hated it, so now he is gone, she wanted help to transform it. In a garden this small, a lawn is more trouble than it is worth. Having planned enough patio space for her table/chairs in sun, and an alternative area for a bench in shade, the rest was left as gravel pathways through planting.

There are about 30% evergreens, and all the rest are perennials and bulbs. It will looking amazing next spring right through until October, and after about 3 years, the fencing will have disappeared with the shrub growth.

Today is my birthday, and I have worked a lot of the day, since we had finished this by lunchtime and went on to do some maintenance. But it's such a beautiful day (20 degrees) that it was nice to be outside. Tonight is our camera club AV competition. I am entering a 6min film of our holiday in San Francisco in June. I will share a link with you all tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
