Challenging

Assisting a friend with an office day out today.
First the forecast & then meeting the group - neither boded well. The weather was set for grim to awful & the group were, being polite, very unfit.
A quick discussion & the plan was changed to something at a lower level - but the wind was still gusting strongly in places so a lot of effort went in to choosing the best route. However some things can't be mitigated for - and when one of the ladies fell off the rock she was sat on as she tied her shoelace & broke her ankle - well lets just say that my Mountain Rescue Team training has been time well spent!
I think the LAMRT team that came out were quite relieved to get a six figure grid reference to find us; an assessed casualty with a casualty care card, sat in three jackets in a survival shelter. Even with a response time of just under the hour it was still five hours till we were able to hand the lady over to paramedics and send her on her way to Lancaster Infirmary.
A long day.
