The Gardens
The front yard, so to speak, of our beloved Community Hall, all blooming and ready for the Rhododendron Festival festivities next weekend. Let us hope the weather doesn't continue too hot between now and then.
Far left, fronting the highway, is the War Memorial.
Far right is our celebrated (and Significant Tree Registered) Sequoia sempervirens (California redwood) - at only about 100 years old, it's still relatively young and petite, as you see.
Luckily, it was planted a reasonable distance from the building, so it will be quite a while before it gets so big that it uproots the foundations:
Sequoia sempervirens is the sole living species of the genus Sequoia in the cypress family Cupressaceae. Common names include coast redwood and California redwood. It is an evergreen, long-lived, monoecious tree living 1,200–1,800 years or more.
