Olympic Stadium
We started the day with an "English breakfast". Not sure curried broad beans, salad and a chipolata qualifies, but when in Berlin...
A trip to Zoo Station and the zoo; it was a superb zoo, it was possible to see all the animals without bars and we had a fine time. At one point the pack of wolves started howling - wow, that was incredible, it hit right in the gut, I think that's primal fear.
After that John took us out to the Olympic Stadium, which is the home of Hertha Berlin. Another incredible place, so glad we went despite the sore feet. After a rest we went out mooching around again and somehow found ourselves back at Haagen Dazs. The photo was shouting out to be black and whitified so I obliged.
Then we walked to The Reichstag to tour The Dome. Wow again. Very tight security but once we were in we were left to our own devises, we leisurely climbed the dome and admired the views; the whole thing is another testament to the German ideal of transparent and open government. It's free, you just have to book in advance and it was a highlight of our trip.
After dinner and more Reisling (I have drunk my body weight and more), we are now relaxing before we have to pack up and leave tomorrow morning.
If you're looking for a city break, I can heartily recommend Berlin. Quite apart from it being totally fascinating, the public transport is efficient, and compared to other capitals it is inexpensive. Certainly compared to Copenhagen where we went last year.
I have uploaded some more shots to Flickr - some twice but I can't seem to delete them on the App - if you are interested they are here.
