From where I'm sitting

Master and apprentice revisited

As previously recorded, we were supposed to travel down to Somerset last weekend to visit Mr G's brother, but neither Littler G nor I were feeling well enough for the trip. We rearranged for this Saturday, but when Little G came down with a fever on Friday it wasn't looking good. Having put himself to bed before 5.30 on Friday night, though, he woke up full of beans and back to his usual cheerful self. So it seemed foolish to cancel again.

We set off after the kids' swimming lesson and got there just before 5 (it should have been nearer half 3, but the traffic had other ideas). A little over 3 hours later, we hopped back in the car and were home by 11. A long old journey, and not a great car-to-play ratio, but well worth it for the sake of spending a few precious hours with family. One of the definite highlights was the sight of my father-in-law sitting down with both his grandsons (Little G's cousin not pictured to preserve his privacy) for a game of "pawn chess".

Little G's first lesson came almost a year ago - a compare and contrast shot can be found here.
