29m above the ground...
today we were invited to scramble in the attics and and climb the tower of St Martin in Landshut. That means we were looking down through the so called 'Heilig Geist Loch' - an hole in the roof, where at Pentecost rose petals are floating down and a (wooden) dove is let down on a rope..... and it is 29 metres above the ground. There was a good solid bannister.....
Some 500 steps later we were on top of the tower, which is the tallest brick spire in the world (only a smelter stack in the US is taller..) - it was just so awesome! Sadly it was also pouring with rain - so the pictures from up there aren't really worth mentioning.
I'm not exactly sure I'd like to repeat this experience in sunshine .......those 500 steps were quite intimidating.....
