Children of Paradise
"Les Enfants du Paradis" is one of the French films that we have watched in my History of French Film course at the university. Before I began pursuing my French degree, I never really gave much thought to foreign films, but the more I watch, the more I really enjoy them. I really loved this movie, in particular.
It was quite a grand production, with an entire faux set of the Paris streets built for the shoot. What is the most interesting fact is that it was filmed in the mid 1940s, in Paris, during the German occupation. Incredibly, it had to be filmed in secret. That fact alone is amazing, but that it actually turned out to be a very good movie is even more phenomenal.
