A boy and his bird

We spotted these two around lunchtime, in the centre of Funchal. I suspect they were taking a break from offering the tourists photo opportunities, and it was wonderful to watch them relaxing together. The bird would nuzzle his cheek, he'd stroke its head, hug it, and tweak its beak. There was obviously a real bond between them, and it seemed a natural choice for a blip :)

I was also tempted by: the favourite local fish, the black scabbard (captured here at the fishmarket - Alys had one last night, served with a banana and apple sauce); a bit of zither maintenance; this "dancing" tree with a funny face; the narrow streets in the old part of the city; and a well-placed dove on the cathedral.
