Bus Challenge No 37!

A busy, busy day playing at being tourists in Bath!

First stop was the Fine Cheese Festival, part of The Great Bath Feast, held in The Octagon, a former 18th century grade II listed building. As well as tasting a whole variety of delicious cheeses, we had an interesting talk by a local cheese producer, along with even more cheese tastings!!

Eating cheese is thirsty work, so our next port of call was The Star Inn, a 16th century pub, where we were greeted by Kernow, the pub cat. The pub sits at one end of The Paragon, another of Bath's beautiful street of listed Georgian buildings.

Retracing our steps along the Paragon, we stopped off at The Building of Bath Collection, housed in the Countess of Huntingdon's Chapel, to see an exhibition which explains the building of the Georgian city during the 18th century.

By this time we were feeling peckish and as they'd run out of cheese sarnies in M&S, we had to settle for a bag of double chocolate cookies which we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine in the Abbey Churchyard, whilst being serenaded by a busker.

Making the most of Heritage Week, with free entry for local residents to Bath's museums, we finished off our tourist day out by visiting the Bath Postal Museum. Did you know that the first ever Penny Black stamp, in fact the first ever stamp in the world, was posted in Bath? I didn't!

So for such a busy and varied day, you have a busy and varied collage!!
