..... at the Society Cafe.


Today I met up with the lovely Normie for a look around a few exhibitions. We met at the Barbican and went to the Constructing worlds : Photogtraphy and Architecture in a modern age exhibition. There was quite a diverse range of photos from 1930s America to modern day Cairo all exploring Architecture in photograph.

The exhibition was very inspiring and after a couple of hours looking around we went to a cafe in the complex for a cuppa ( where we noticed and had nice chat with a chap called Simon who was using a Rollei 35 ). After exploring the Barbican a bit more and and exhbition of Canotypes in the Curve gallery we headed over to the West End.

Next stop was the Sebastiao Slagdo Exhibition at the Beetles & Huxley gallery. A great free exhibition of very dramatic black and white images, I think both myself and Normie fell in love with a couple of the prints but as they were selling for Thousands of pounds a piece we instead opted for an exhibition catalouge each.

Almost cultured out we we popped in to the Society Cafe for some liquid refreshment and Steve ( blipped ) kindly helped me create my own version of a Manet painting. Before heading our seperate ways, Normie and I popped in to the National Portrait gallery to look at the new Grayson Perry works craeted as part of the Who are you television programme, he's a talented chap and the works in all different media were full of wit, emotion and beauty, another reccomended must see if you get the chance.

It's been a fun week down in London with lovely company and plenty of exhibition visits and photography. As it's been a very arty day, today's blip is my Manet homage .....
