Partial Eclipse of the Sun
Funny old day. It was pouring this morning. I was even reluctant to go out and feed the birds but I did. And then it calmed and Arvin and I went out shopping. He didn't even bring his raincoat. When we got to the store it was dumping rain mixed with hail. The streets and parking lot were rushing water. We got our feet wet getting from the car to the store.
Our business in the store took about half an hour. When we emerged the whole sky was blue with just a few clouds around the edge. The sun was shining.
We drove home and by then the clouds were gathering again. Then Steve called. "Look outside. Make a hole in a piece of paper and look at the image it projects. It's a partial eclipse of the sun." I tried that but didn't have much success. So I stopped down my camera, under exposed by a bunch and hand held the new neutral density filter I bought for my new camera over the lens of my G4 and this is what I got. The new camera wouldn't take this. I couldn't get the aperture small enough. But the G4 did and I quite like the result. (Large)
Soon it was raining again and there was lightning. Then that cleared and we got a rainbow. Finally there was a fantabulous sunset glow looking east that I caught in a series of five photos. I used the Nik HDR Pro plug in to combine them into this. Such weird and wonderful weather.
