Polar Bears

There are only two Polar Bears in this country and they both live at the Highland Wild Life Park at Kincraig. It is difficult to reconclile my own thoughts about keeping such beautiful animals in captivity with the privilege of getting to see them at such close quarters.
You can take some comfort in that they have a very big enclosure and very good veterinary care. I heard one of the staff explaining the special feeding procedures used which allows the keepers to inspect their bodies carefully for injuries and scrapes. Their counterparts in the wild have far lower life expectancy.
They genuinely appeared very happy and content.
