Travelling
Day one of the Lakeland Photographic Holidays Paris trip today, and lots of travelling.
We left home at 9:30, caught a bus into Leeds, then took the train down to King's Cross. We then took the short walk to St. Pancras and met up with John & Gail and the rest of the guests. Once safely through security we boarded the train and left the station. The route is mostly in tunnels until it leaves London and then we were out in the Kent countryside. The tunnel crossing itself is only about 20 minutes, and we were soon out in the sunshine again travelling through very similar countryside, but this time on the French side.
Once we arrived at Paris Gare du Nord we took a short two stop underground trip and checked into our hotel. A quick visit to the room and it was then back out on the street for the walk to a local bistro for dinner, taking in the sights along the way. After dinner we explored the area a bit more - the blip shot above is the entrance to the Gare de l'Est - and then returned back to the hotel.
Update: More pictures from the first day on Flickr.
