Derelict Thursday - factory
I asked Hubby as we were heading off to the Austrian equivalent of Bunnings (hardware store) if he knew any derelict buildings on the way. We stopped off at a paint factory that we had seen during an historical walking tour a couple of years ago. It was transformed! Newly painted and has been set up with an information centre for visitors. Next stop - the Bobbin furniture factory which was a large concern in Gmünd, the next town, and had employed around 450 people until the company was declared bankrupt in 1985. This one was perfect - crumbling facades, broken windows, junk everywhere and even trees growing out of the roof of the offices above the carpark. There were quite a few (not derelict) cars parked there. I asked Hubby if it was safe and if he would park his car underneath and he said "no way"!
