Time will pass you by..

I went to see the new Northern Soul movie this afternoon.

I'm a soul girl and spent a couple of years in the mid 80s travelling to the legendary all-nighters in the north of England.

The tag line for the movie says "if you were there, you'll know. If you weren't, you'll wish you had.." So I was awful excited, expecting an homage to the soul scene that would fill me with nostalgia and make me all misty eyed.

The movie was a bit too gritty for me and chose to focus on the seedier, drug taking side of the scene. It left me disappointed. For me, it didn't do much to celebrate all that I loved about northern soul.

But I do still have the fondest of memories and a lifelong love of the music. And I love the dancing!
