For mum

Went to visit mum today. Long drive down as was stuck in traffic, but good journey back. Still, I had my Soul City compilation CD set to keep me company, to which I warbled along the whole way. It was probably a good job I was driving alone...

The flowers were an early gift for mum to "celebrate" my upcoming birthday. When I was born (at home, back in the day...) mum was disappointed that my dad never bought her any flowers. So on my birthday every year thereafter he bought her flowers.

Except my dad is no longer with us, so now I give mum flowers on my birthday every year instead (on behalf of dad), which I started in 2010 when I knew dad was too poorly to go out and get any flowers for her himself.
