Another Banquet...Yum!
Tonight we were invited to another banquet to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the Senior 2 teachers. Our school has Senior 1, 2, and 3 grades. I am a senior 2 teacher, and The Goose is Senior 1. The Goose was also invited, but is feeling a bit under the weather, so it was just me that went.
We've been to quite the fare share of banquets during our time here (all paid for by the school), but this one by far had to be the tastiest.
The Goose didn't miss out too much as most of the dishes were meat or seafood.
I was a happy gander, stuffing my face with every dish that came by. Hard to pick a favorite, as I liked them all. However, traditionally during this time of year, the Chinese eat tangyuan, which is a dough-like ball with a generally sweet filling of sesame or peanut paste, served in a warm liquid. It was wonderfully delicious.
Here, being the thoughtful Gander that I am, I brought back some of the vegetarian cuisine in a take-away box for my sick little Goosey-poo. Noodles and Fried rice.
Doesn't look too much different then the "Chow-mein" many of you might be used to back in the Western World, does it? Well, the flavors are a bit different here, and there were plenty of other dishes that usually are not eaten back home much.
Full, and happy.
