Above And Beyond...

Nice Home Run

Our break to Yorkshire came to an end today, and after breakfast we started the journey home, which was 4hrs 20 mins. The first hour was through high winds and rain.

After about 2 hours driving, we fancied a break and pulled off the motorway to Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. The sun was out and it looked good for a walk around and grabbing a blip photo of it's castle. After spending 10p in the Public Toilet 'manned' by an officious woman behind a counter (her wages must be more than she collects!!!). I then realised there was a Wetherspoons called 'The Shoulder of Mutton' next door, so we went in for a coffee and tea, with free refills. No wonder their business is thriving. On coming out, it was hammering down with rain, so it was straight back to the car and no half decent photo!

We then stopped off at Monmouth town, hoping to get a 'his & hers' calendar from The National Trust shop where we bought one last year. It has closed down! We did get one from W H Smith.

This evening was the reason we had to get back; Cardiff were playing Ipswich, with a 7.45pm kick off. The blip photo shows Cardiff forward Adam Le Fondre scoring Cardiff's 3rd goal in the 69th minute to give them a 3-1 win. Their second win under new manager, Russell Slade. A nice home run for my team and me.
