Waverley and the old town
Went for a quick wander around Calton Hill with the dog earlier. To be honest it was more an excuse to try out an idea for a shot I had. From the foot of the Nelson monument I stuck a ND8 filter on the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and went for a long daylight exposure down Princes Street. Moderate success was had but I took this vertical panorama on the way back to the car and much prefered this.
3 shots, all single shot RAW to HDR conversions. All 3 TIFF's photomerged in CS4 to give the panorama. Then I opened up the TIFF via Bridge as camera raw and reprocessed until I was happy with the effect in ACR. Nice to do this as you can lose the nasty grey sky the HDR can give and give it a nice golden glow. It really lets you dumb down the extremeness of the HDR and make more of the shot. Anyway, cold it was but I liked this one!
