Bus Challenge No 35!
OR
Given the weather...
Plan A for the day was to head across the Severn Bridge, but given the weather, I decided to stay closer to home. Plan B was to go for a walk but a friend, who knew the route, said it would be very wet underfoot, given the weather.
So, given the weather, plan C... Took the bus into Bath, then a second bus into Wiltshire and to Corsham, a small town at the foot of the Cotswolds with a wealth of beautiful and historic buildings dating from the 16th century. The town's prosperity was derived from the woollen industry and the local Bath stone. These gabled cottages date from the 17th century and were lived in by weavers who came from the low countries to escape persecution.
Spent a pleasant couple of hours, wandering the ancient streets, browsing in the small specialist shops and lunching in a cosy café. In the end, not a bad day, given the weather!
