Finding Vivian Maier
Day 279 of 365. I was one of the many people that helped crowd fund this film and so received the DVD when it came out. It's a fascinating documentary about this woman who was a nanny but took tens of thousands of shots in her spare time (and even when doing her job, often dragging her charges round with her) and whose work was only discovered, almost by accident, after she died.
The documentary was about the man who bought the negatives as part of a clearance sale and then realised after looking at them that the images really were something very special indeed. It took him many months to find out about her and her strange, complex life. The amount of effort and care he took was monumental and he became a champion of her wonderful street photography and self-portraits.
