Light Against Dark
A stormy night and a very windy/blustery day with squally showers.
Despite the high winds we decided that we would go to Tayvallich and Carsaig and see what it was like looking out to sea. On the way we had a quick visit to Crinan Ferry but the wind was so wild there that we were soon back in the car.
At Carsaig we parked looking out to sea facing directly into the wind and it was wonderful to watch the squalls race in over Jura and across Carsaig bay straight at us. The colours on the water were constantly changing and the waves were racing in towards the shore and crashing over the little piers with huge plumes of spray.
For lunch we went back to Tayvallich (a mile or so) and ate in the cafe there. After lunch we went out on the cafe's deck and waited for a squall to go over before getting some pictures. With Tayvallich being on the inland side of the peninsula the bay there is very sheltered and the boats were much steadier at their moorings, although still drifting from side to side. Once again I have posted a blip with light against dark. Moments later there was a blue sky, but the light boats against the dark are more dramatic.
We spent most of the afternoon back at Carsaig looking out to sea and reading. Quite a restful day really.
When we got back to the cottage we took Maeve the Deerhound for a walk following one of the local walks round the base of the hill of Dunadd fort. It was still blowy but she was much happier walking there than at Carsaig where she just wanted back in the car and out of the gale.
