Window to the Soul

Chantler's October 2014 Word Challenge - window

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. Are they? This is my eldest. He has beautiful blue-grey eyes. His eyes always seem to have a slightly sad look, as if he can't quite fathom what he's seeing, which, since he has high functioning autism, is slightly true. Although my reflection is there, they are slightly impenetrable, its not as easy to see into him, as the others. And yet there is a spark, a sparkle. He has a great sense of humour, and great intelligence. When he was 7 we were all sat in a cafe, waiting to go on a cave tour. The noise in the cafe died right down, at which point he asks, in a loud voice, "So, what is it about helium atoms that means they can still pass through a balloon's skin so it goes down?". Everyone turned to look, and I thought very quickly and replied, "Why don't we look it up when we get home?".
